This is just a short post to note the passing of a genuine American hero, Doc Watson, the great folk guitarist and singer. When a man lives to the age of 89 spending much of his time doing what he loves, it is hard to mourn his death — we should all be that fortunate. Nevertheless, the planet will definitely be the poorer without Doc Watson pouring his heart into making great music. He was one of a kind, and I had the privilege once to see him perform at the Flynn Theater in Burlington, Vermont, for which I am very grateful. Good bye, Doc, and thank you for all those terrific recordings, through which your legacy will endure for ages to come.
