Carl Hiaasen is one of my favorite authors. His wacky caper novels never fail to make me laugh out loud. And I’m proud to say I discovered him with his very first book, Tourist Season, and have read each of his adult novels as they too infrequently come out. The New York Times Book Review has just published a mini interview with Carl, which is interesting in itself, but I was most engaged and impressed by this question and answer:
If you could require the president to read one book, what would it be?
“The Monkey Wrench Gang,” by Edward Abbey. It would definitely transport Obama out of the Beltway.
Amen to that!
