I can’t say I was a big fan of Heath Ledger. I’ve seen a few of his films, and he impressed me as a fine young actor. His death is sad. I want to comment on the coverage of his death. You can view the removal of his body in a body bag on the web. I can only imagine that this video and others like it have been played throughout the afternoon in newsrooms around the country. What I want to know is where is the video of the thousands of young men and women who died too young in Iraq? The media swarm to cover this tragic death — understandably so — but have virtually ignored the casualties from Bush’s frolic, settling for the abstraction of numbers.
