Hillary’s day is over

I voted for Hillary Clinton in the Vermont primary, but I think it is time for her to pack it in. She has always seemed too eager to become president, but now she just seems desperate. Her support of the federal gas tax “holiday” is the perfect example. This is a stupid idea, a view that is shared by virtually every economist. Clearly it has one purpose and one purpose alone: pandering to the voters.

Now her campaign is bragging about her appeal to uneducated, “hard working,” white voters. I can’t recall any other product or brand boasting of being the preference of the ignorant. I know I’ll be branded an elitist for saying so (only in politics can a guy making under $40,000 a year and driving a $13,000 car be dubbed an elitist), but I prefer the candidate who attracts the smart people. Beyond this, the notion that uneducated people are somehow harder working people is insulting.

Hillary, you’re grasping at straws and you’re smearing your own reputation. It’s too late to bow out gracefully, but try. Not for my sake or the party’s, but for your own.
