Outrageous Fortune!

It would be easy to make fun of this woman for her angry meltdown at the Democratic Party’s Rules & Bylaws meeting. It would be easy, but it would be wrong. She is a passionate supporter of her candidate — and, more important, eager to see a woman become president. I don’t blame her for her being upset. (The racial overtones of her outburst do make me a little uncomfortable… but that’s another issue.) Hillary has been the best hope for a woman nominee, and to get so close and to feel as if the party has conspired (which I do not believe it has) to deny her the nomination must be very upsetting. So, no, I won’t make fun of her.

However, if she were to follow through on her pledge to vote for McCain just out of spite, then I would join those who ridicule her as a “feminist for McCain.”
